Tour 1: Nordera farm – 5 June 2026 (half-day)

The Nordera Farm has 1,100 dairy cattle, 600 of which are in milk, and produces 25,000 litres of milk per day.
7 partners and 6 employees run the company, which is currently in its third generation (the farm is over 100 years old). 
The farm mainly raises dairy cattle but also generates electricity through a 100-kW biogas plant powered by livestock manure. In addition, they own a pig farm and two trout-farming fish farms, powered by a 100-kW photovoltaic system, allowing the farm to be energy self-sufficient.
Thanks to the farm tour, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of both electronic identification systems and the SenseHub monitoring system, and to understand how MSD Animal Health technology has enabled greater efficiency and optimisation of farm operations and daily activity management.

Tour 2: ST Genetics Laboratory and Valserena Farm – 5 June 2026 (Full day)

The semen sex-sorting laboratory of STgenetics, located in Modena, is dedicated to the industrial-scale production of high-purity sex-sorted semen for multiple livestock species. The facility applies advanced flow cytometry–based sorting technology to differentiate X- and Y-chromosome–bearing sperm cells with high accuracy, ensuring reliable control of offspring sex ratios. In addition to bovine semen, the laboratory processes semen from other livestock species, including buffalo and equine. The facility is equipped with four distinct production lines, allowing parallel processing. In 2025, the laboratory produced over 300,000 doses of sex-sorted semen.

Visit to the Valserena Farm, Parmigiano Reggiano production

The Valserena farm is a family-run farm, devoted exclusively to producing Parmigiano Reggiano from the milk of Bruna Italiana cows. With roots dating back to 1879, before the creation of the Consortium of Parmigiano Reggiano, and as a founding member of the Disolabruna Consortium, Valserena is an example of high-quality, full traceability, animal welfare, and non-GMO feed.
Managing the entire supply chain across 430 hectares, the farm produces around 16 wheels of cheese per day from 300 dairy cows.
You will receive an immersive experience in the Italian tradition of cheese production, combined with modern technologies.

ARAV (Associazione Regionale Allevatori Veneto) labora
tory is an accredited laboratory that has been operating for years in the agricultural, livestock, and agri-food sectors in the Veneto region.
The main materials analysed include milk and dairy products, animal feed, meat, soil, water, and compost. Specialised technicians carry out daily tests using traditional systems or cutting-edge instruments that utilise infrared technology.
The laboratory mainly collaborates with livestock farms, dairies, and small slaughterhouses. It provides consulting services in food safety, development of self-control manuals (HACCP), ISO 9001 certification, traceability, and labelling.
Thanks to a network of agronomist technicians operating throughout the region, it offers qualified consulting services to livestock farms on stable management, production monitoring, and hygiene and sanitary conditions.
ARAV is one of the regional laboratories that works in coordination with the Italian Breeder Association
